Sounds
A small brook moves by with the sounds of the ripples in the stream echoing the bottom rocks that tie the brook to the earth and the music of nature. The bright yellow flowers move softly in the wind, the wind blows their scent across the fields. The sound of the wind rushing by, the flower petals flapping, and the wisp of life’s sweet fragrances embrace me and tie the flowers and myself to the earth and the music of nature. The forest that is near yet seems so far away. With its depths where no lights shine. Yet I can hear the small movements of animals, birds, insects, and I hear deep movements of the ground. Trees extending their roots to the earth and the music of nature. The brook, the flowers, and the trees are tied to all of nature as it performs The Music of Life.
Artist’s statement
This poem began as a statement about parts of Nature that are often forgotten but are worthy of remembering. As I received input and then made major changes, I became more interested in the Music of Nature. The processes thur three revisions has strengthened my feelings about how Nature sings for me/us. If you just take a walk around my apartment complex you as I was will feel and hear the inspirations of Nature. Thank You All – Drinda J.Kiner, artist
